We’re ready for this memorable trip! Let’s hit the road, dad!
Before we had David we were doing all sorts of things on the weekend. During the week we were working, but on the weekend we always were doing something new: from road trips to picnics, from romantic dinners to our regular movie date on Saturday night.
But since he came into our lives I must say that we put those things on hold and focused our attention on him. The first months were really hard (who says it’s easy with a newly born is lying or has fell on his head- sorry, but it is hard, especially if it’s the first baby); I couldn’t even go and visit friends- he was hungry all the time and I had to go in another room and breastfeed him- sooo frustrating!! But he is worth the effort.
So, now that he is a big boy we decided that it’s time to break the routine and do something fun. It was a beautiful day, the rain stopped and the sun was shining.. I don’t know how but an amazing thing happened: when I told my husband that we should go to the seaside, he looked at me, smiled, and said that this is exactly what he had in mind! It was so nice that we thought at the same thing. So we got in the car and hit the road.
D. was so good all the time and when we arrived at the seaside he was mesmerised by the sound of the waves. He loved to put his feet in the sand, was very curious about all the new things he was seeing and how happy he was! It was a good day for him, for us… we loved seeing him so curious and happy.. Truly a child’s world is fresh and new and beautiful, full of wonder and excitement…
It was a beautiful day with smiles, good memories and the promise to always love each other and have fun together. Looking at D. I forget about all the everyday worries and I felt like a kid again! I just wanted to feel the wind through my hair, to hear the waves and watch my amazing boys play.
As one of my favorite quote says: “In my soul, I am still that small child who did not care about anything else but the beautiful colors of a rainbow.” (Papiha Ghosh)
